A Little Bit of a Background
In 2021, Taurus took a solid step into the compact pistol scene with the release of the GX4. Even though the market’s crowded with models claiming to be the best for concealed carry, the 9mm Taurus GX4 genuinely stands out as an ultra-compact, highly concealable carry gun.
And yes, it’s priced to be that way too.
With the small backstrap, the GX4 measures 5.8" (6.05" with the large), stands 4.4" tall, and weighs just 18.5 oz., making it well-balanced for easy handling.
Where this pistol really shines is in its width—just 1.08 inches—yet it still manages to pack in 10 rounds! Not bad for such a small, compact number, right?
The barrel is 3.06 inches, and it’s all built around a stainless frame with polymer grips.
It also features the standard white dot sights, which will get the job done, though they might be one of the trade-offs for an affordable model.
We especially love the loaded chamber indicator. It might seem like a small thing, but it’s really convenient to be able to see at a glance whether there’s a round chambered without needing to press check every time.

What Makes GX4 Different?
The micro 9mm category has some tough competition. But where Taurus' GX4 really shines is in its price—a $329.99 MSRP and a more realistic street price in the low $300s, which beats its competitors, like the Sig Sauer P365, which has a street price of $499.99.
